Chaïbia Talal
Born in 1929 in a village near El Jadida, Chaïbia Talal painted without academic training, guided by an inner vision. Her gouaches and canvases burst with colour: faces, flowers and figures emerge from a free and powerful gesture. Discovered in the 1960s, she became one of the most singular voices of Moroccan modern art, celebrated far beyond Morocco's borders.
